Miss Rhea is growing daily at this point.  She is doing well, but I am seeing  her have a harder time getting up on bed ( we helped last night).  Breathing a bit heavier and she naps more.

Hades and his parents.

Mr. Hades is still a young boy and growing. We can't wait to see what he will look like full grown but I just spoke to his breeders for an update on his parents.

Here it is:  Memphis Cowboy is currently 215lbs and isn't done growing as he is barely 2.5.  His momma has retired from breeding at moment but is doing well and as beautiful as ever, She is a huge girl but I must tell you I have forgotten her exact weight. Here are some images.
Cowboy, Hades father, currently still growing as he is young as well.

Hades MOM... can you spot our boy LOL

Isn't she a pretty girl. HUGE RIGHT!

Baby Hades

UPDATE:  Next Tuesday we find out at the vet's how many pups Rhea will be expecting.

Miss Rhea, a baby picture to this week.

Miss Rhea has always had such a great temperament. Loving and fast learner. She can be stubborn if she doesn't want to come in the house after doing her business LOL, but in general she is great.  Learning all hand signals and word commands very quickly. She was easy to train.
When she was little, she was prone to  UTI's but thankfully grew out of any issue.  She gave us a scare one time , but thankfully the  with the right meds she was fine within 24hrs. Our Vet Mark ( Rossmore Animal Hospital)  is amazing.. he has made sure over the years that our furry kids are
well taken care of.     I hope you enjoy these images!

Don't forget to check the puppy countdown. I am racing to make sure all in place for her welping area and  of course getting the puppy packages together.
Your new puppy will come with a care package that includes Parent information, copy of parents papers,  A toy, collar and Bag of puppy food. .   You may make scheduled visit to your pup, but it will not be rehomed until minimum of 8-10 weeks

Miss Rhea is really showing now. Check the puppy countdown ...

Miss Rhea is really starting to show now.  We are seeing both physical signs and behaviour changes. Nothing drastic, more like whining and needing alot more attention. Her physical signs are enlarged nipples and swollen abdomen along with a up and down appetite.

She is doing well and we are very excited .  The puppy contract is now on the blog.  We haven't confirmed how many puppies she is having at this point but if you are wanting to purchase one, please send me a message to discuss it.

Don't forget to check the puppy  countdown on the side of blog.

Our Gentle Giants and the snow.

Today was a fun picture day. Our furry children love playing in the snow and I must admit , it makes for some fun action shots.  The one image shows Hades lips flapping and it makes me giggle.   A few times when they were running towards me , I thought I was going  to get knocked on my bum with the camera .  They are so fast!

Hades is still very young, but his face is changing weekly in my opinion. His maturity is starting to show up in these images.

Miss Rhea loves to eat ice when outside, but doesn't get to do it peacefully as Mr. Hades always interrupts her to play.

Playing in the snow is fun for these dogs, but it doesn't take long for them to wonder back to the front door to come in . Then, they once again are lazy giants by my feet as I am sitting her typing this.

Hope you enjoy the images, and be sure to check the puppy countdown.

Oh the wrinkles. I couldn't love without an EM! :)

Ya just have to laugh when you see Hades lying down and his face falls forward a bit. It is like wrinkles come from everywhere. I call it his " MELTED" look.   Gosh, I love him!!!

Our beautiful Girl Rhea doesn't have as many wrinkles but I would say she has an amazing colour to her coat. We get more comments about her brindle !!
Having an EM is amazing. They are so loving and just honestly bring joy to your life.

Hades came to me at just the right time in my life. My father has just passed away a couple months before and I was not healing well inside. My heart  was having a very hard time dealing with such a loss. I was told by many it was a caregivers grief I was experiencing.  That I had so much time devoted to dad's health and care that I didn't know what to do with myself.  Getting Hades gave me a  new focus. Someone else to fill that void of emptiness.  My husband and my son were of course  there , but this was a deeper emotion that you can't seem to explain to others.  Hades might have just saved me.   I am so lucky he is my boy!!     This is not to forget Miss Rhea , who always laid with me when I would cry and seemed to be concerned. Snuggled up with her many a times.  Having a dog as a friend is something I wouldn't be without in my life and English Mastiffs  fill that role perfectly. Not to mention big enough to snuggle!

If you are considering owning a Mastiff, I promise you it will be a good decision!

Look at those wrinkles LOL

Miss Rhea getting some love,Isn't she a beauty. Her pups are going to be amazing!!    Don't forget to check the puppy countdown on the side of this blog.  Feel free to contact us .

English Mastiff Portrait day :)

Miss Rhea and Mr. Hades were back in the studio.  Hades seems to enjoy it, and Rhea would rather just lay down on the rug.  I tried to get her to bark in the one photo. That perked her up a bit.

I wanted to get her sitting down to show her full size but she didn't want too and I am not one to force her just for a picture. I tried a few times.. but with limited success.

Even though these guys are giants, they are very gentle soled. So raising your voice or yelling at that doesn't go over well. They are sensitive  and just need to be loved.  Do that and they will forever be devoted to you.  This does not mean you can't use stern voice if need be, as this breed also tends to have a stubborn streak.

Anyways, enjoy the new pictures and be sure to check the PUPPY COUNTDOWN on the side.

We are so excited and hope you are too!!
Isn't he just the most beautiful creature. I really can see his maturity beginning now.  So happy he kept all those wrinkles.

Awh, I love that he is starting to look mature. At 14.5months  he still had a long way till maturity.  Growth usually continues till they are three. This breed is slow growing and shouldn't be rushed. The weight of them would cause such troubles with bones and ligaments if you rushed it. Do not try and over feed a Mastiff just to put weight on them. This is a NO-NO. They will be big, TRUST ME.  Hades is still very much on the lean side as you can see he has lots of growing to do and he is already 145.lbs.   They also tend to flop down very hard and can get hygromas on their elbows if you are not careful.   So much to consider with a giant breed!  If you are considering getting a puppy, please do some research, as a breeder or an owner lots of questions.  I truly can say, they are not your average dog to raise.

Showing off his ears. I let out a funny noise and he perks those big ears up.. Oh, I just love his face so much. Look at those wrinkles.!

Not sure why, but I always thing Miss Rhea looks old in images LOL. Not sure if it how she holds her ears when I bring the camera up..

Rhea barking. I love that she will bark on command ( hand signals or voice) . Thought it would be a cute picture.

So you can tell both of them are not impressed with the photo
shoot at this point.  Hard to believe that at just 14.5 months he is already taller than Rhea.

And the answer is............

The vet says, he believes she is pregnant.  I am not to hold him to it at this point but when he palpated her , he thought something could be felt on her right side.   Blood
work was not done as he said, it isn't always accurate and by the time the test would come back she would have clear signs from her enlarge breasts and weight gain.   We will come back in and weigh her in 2 weeks. This is a good indicator as she will likely gain over 5lbs in that time frame if she is expecting.

HOW EXCITED ARE YOU???????????????????   We are delighted with the thought!.
Rhea and Hades will make beautiful pups.

Oh Update on Hades weight, he is 145.6 at 14.5 months. So, even-though is a young father to be and not at his full potential of size. We have no doubt he is growing up to be a very healthy size Mastiff.  Plus he had a clean bill of health! Even took his needles like a champ. Never even noticed them !

Vet appointment try and confirm or deny pregnancy.

Now, our vet assistant told me on the phone, that sometimes you can get a negative when infact it is positive but we are set up for blood work anyways.  Also usually after 21 days the vet can palpate to try and feel for pups.  Fingers crossed.   Appointment is for this coming Tuesday ..

Miss Rhea is showing some different behaviours/personality changes , is this true or are we just trying to think positive and seeing signs that aren't there... who knows.

Today she was snuggling my housecoat under the table where I was sitting. Although it isn't unusual for her to be under the table on the rug. It is odd for her to somehow have gotten my housecoat and snuggling it.  By now she would have went back and slept on the bed with my hubby who works midnights.

Stay tuned.. not sure how long the Blood work takes but this  Possible Grandma to be is jumping with anticipation!!
