#cuteness Giants are just so cute.. hard to believe Rhea was ever this small!

Rhea and her babies, we are having a nice quiet day.  Babies are making  cute little noises while nursing. I had to stop working just to take this video . Cuteness was just too much to not capture.

Enjoy!
Hard to believe that these little ones
will soon eat you out of house and home LOL.
Our two mastiffs average about 20 cups a day!   Takes alot to feed giants!

Gentle giant is exactly what Rhea is!

What a great mama, Rhea is being. She is attentive and careful.  Cries to have them taken out of the baby bed and in the whelping area with her.   Nights are calm and babies are just awake every couple hours for a feed. I put babies in with her, and she nurses them without and issues.

We are so happy!   5 boys and 1 girl.  The brindle is a little boy,  the rest are :we assume more Apricot than fawn... but could lighten up, ya never can quite tell at this age. 1 female, 3 boys in this colour.

One male  has been choosen already , the little girl  might be too. Just waiting to hear back.  So , if you are interested in having a English mastiff please contact me asap.  Puppy info is found on tab at top.

Our little guests have arrived!! #puppies #mastiffs

Wow,  was all I could say for today. Got woken up by Rhea around 3am. She was a bit out of sorts. By 5am to my extreme surprise.... She delivered a pup!   7am and another!  Then, it all stopped.  Will explain after you watch video.
Considering today was supposed to be her c-section day!!

So third puppy didn't come along and 3 hours past.  Mark ( our amazing vet at Rossmore Animal Hospital ) said she should have some Oxitocin to try and get her contracting with this time passing.  So... in we went.   With it and some Calcium IV she gave birth to baby #3. But...........  nothing after for quite some time.

We decided to do xrays, and to our surprise 2 more pups were in there.  He was certain that a c-section was going to be needed after all but decided to try one more shot of meds.  Well, it worked.  By 3pm  we had 5 pups and a healthy mom!!

Long day, we got home. Everyone settled and this Grandma took a nap LOL.

Will tomorrow be the day?

So we thought perhaps today was the day. Her temp had dropped a big yesterday and this morning it again had fallen, but..... by this afternoon it didn't drop anymore so our vet wants to wait one more day at least. He  took some blood to do a progesterone level test.

Will tomorrow be the day.... we assume it will be! If counting from her first lock, she will be 2 days over. Although, you can never be quite sure when she ovulated.. so it is a guessing game.

She doesn't contract and went through alot last time if you all followed her birthing  ordeal. This time we would like it to have alot less stress and worry.
